A personal licence is required to sell or supply alcohol or to allow the sale or supply of alcohol on licensed premises. If you are found selling or supplying alcohol without a personal licence, you could be fined up to £5000 and/or sent to prison for up to 6 months. Eligibility You must be 18 years old to apply for a personal licence. You will also need to have completed an accredited licensing qualification, such as the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders. Once granted a personal licence, it will remain valid indefinitely unless it is surrendered, revoked or suspended by the licensing board.
